Firstly, To make this review i have tested more then 10 different AV software’s and picked 5 which i think best, the antivirus software picked here are almost the same at each other with some differences…
Avira Antivir Personal Edition
Avira antivir personal is a good choice for an average user and also my personal option because it provides a good protection to your pc against virus, malware, trojens, etc.., it is light weight and mostly doesn’t slow down your pc. As you are getting Avira as a free edition it will come with no email scanner which is no not a big deal unless you keep your eyes open.
AVG Antivirus Free Edition
AVG is a very famous antivirus software which is also available in free version. AVG can give you a decent protection against virus, malware, trojens, spyware etc.., AVG Free Edition comes with full-fledged behavioral blocker that is the "Identity Protection" which is an extra layer of protection for your identity.
Microsoft Security Essentials
Microsoft Security Essentials is one of the good antivirus with good detection rates over virus, malware, trojens, spywares etc.., and also with less false positive(false positive – ). MSE automatically updates and removes threats.
Note: To download and install MSE you are required to validate your MS Windows OS.
Avast! Free Antivirus
Avast is also a best choice because it comes with full real-time capabilities, including web, e-mail, IM, P2P and network shields, boot-time scanning, and a behavioral blocker and many more. Avast is also light weight and uses less system resources.
PC Tools Antivirus Free Edition
PC Tools is also a decent choice but it has a less detection rate when compare to the other four above, But it uses less system resources and a good virus scan and removal of the boot sector viruses that infect Master Boot Record (MBR).
